Site Discipline Plan

Rainier View’s Site Discipline Plan

At Rainier View, our top priority is creating a safe, kind, and responsible learning environment where every child can thrive. Our discipline plan is not just about responding to behaviors—it is about teaching, guiding, and supporting students so they can make positive choices and grow as learners and community members.

Key Highlights:

  • Schoolwide Expectations: We emphasize three simple, powerful expectations for all students—Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible. These values guide daily interactions and help build a positive school culture.

  • Restorative Practices: When challenges arise, we focus on repairing relationships, problem-solving, and helping students reflect on better choices for the future. This approach fosters accountability while also ensuring students feel cared for and supported.

  • Prevention and Social-Emotional Learning: Through programs like Second Step, community circles, and Zones of Regulation, students learn how to manage emotions, resolve conflicts, and build healthy peer relationships before problems escalate.

  • Positive Reinforcement: We celebrate and acknowledge good choices through PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), classroom rewards, and schoolwide celebrations, reinforcing the behaviors we want to see.

  • Support Systems: For students who need additional help, our intervention teams, counselors, and administrators work closely with families to provide tailored support and ensure success.

  • Family Partnership: We believe parents and guardians are vital partners in this work. We will communicate openly and work with you whenever concerns arise so that your child feels supported both at school and at home.

In short, our discipline plan is about teaching life skills, celebrating positive choices, and ensuring every student has the tools and support to succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally.
