School Improvement Plan

SMARTIE Goal #1 (MATH)

In partnership with families, Rainier View will increase the percentage of scholars passing the math SBA in third grade from 11% to 21%, fourth grade from 25% to 35% and fifth grade from 13% to 23%. Scholars will improve their iReady overall placement from 16% on-level to 36% (EOY).

SMARTIE Goal #2 (ELA)

In partnership with families, Rainier View will increase the percentage of scholars passing the ELA SBA for third grade from 23% to 33%, fourth grade from 22% to 33% and fifth grade from 26% to 36%. Scholars will improve their iReady overall placement from 22% on-level or above to 42% (EOY).

SMARTIE Goal #3 (Whole Child)

In partnership with families, Rainier View will decrease the percentage of scholars receiving 5 or more referrals, school-wide, from 10% to 5%; specifically, referrals for Asian scholars will go from 12% to 6%; Black scholars from 11% to 5%; and Multiracial scholars from 11% to 5% by June 2025.

SMARTIE Goal #4 (Attendance)

In partnership with families, Rainier View will increase the percentage of scholars attending school 90% of the time from 60% to 70% school-wide and from 40% to 60% for Native American scholars and from 32% to 42% for Pacific Islander scholars by June 2025.
Aligned Signature Strategy(ies)

MTSS: Implement a multi-tiered system of support using a data – based decision-making model to support meeting the needs of scholars academic and social emotional needs across all three tiers.

PLC: Engage Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in a cycle of inquiry using multiple measures to inform and adjust instruction while disaggregating data through an equity lens.

MTSS: Implement a multi-tiered system of support using a data – based decision-making model to support meeting the needs of scholars academic and social emotional needs across all three tiers.

PLC: Engage Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) in a cycle of inquiry using multiple measures to inform and adjust instruction while disaggregating data through an equity lens.

Family Collaboration: Collaborate with families in authentic ways across languages and cultures to integrate family funds of knowledge into school systems and help families understand available services, advocate for their scholar’s needs and support their scholar’s learning. 

Data Collection Systems: Create data collection and reporting systems to increase the effective use of data to drive academic, social emotional and behavioral structures and supports at the district, school, classroom and scholar levels to eliminate racial and programmatic disproportionality in achievement and response to behaviors.
Family Collaboration: Collaborate with families in authentic ways across languages and cultures to integrate family funds of knowledge into school systems and help families understand available services, advocate for their scholar’s needs and support their scholar’s learning.
